Frequently Asked Questions

Does ROV replace divers?
No. It replaces diver exposure where that is the safer or more efficient option, and often precedes a diving intervention.
How is position and location of findings recorded?
Findings are referenced to structure marks, chainage or coordinates so that a defect can be found again on a later inspection.
Does zero visibility make inspection impossible?
Visual inspection has limits in turbid water. In those conditions acoustic and measurement methods, or a tactile diver inspection, are used instead.
In what format is the inspection footage delivered?
Continuous recorded video with overlay data, still images of defects and a written report with a defect register.
Can inspections be repeated to compare condition over time?
Yes. Routes and reference points are documented so subsequent surveys can be compared against the baseline.
