Underwater work carries risk that cannot be removed, only controlled. Every scope is prepared in writing, supervised on site and documented afterwards — for planned maintenance and for emergency response alike.

01Preparation
Before anyone enters the water
Scope review
Structure or vessel details, water conditions, access, depth, current and expected visibility are reviewed with the client.
Method statement
A written method statement sets out the sequence, equipment, personnel, communications and abort criteria for the specific task.
Risk assessment
Task-specific hazards — intakes, propulsion, traffic, entrapment, contamination, energy sources — are assessed with the controls that apply.
Isolation and permits
Lock-out of propulsion, pumps and intakes is confirmed in writing with the operator, together with port authority and terminal permits.
Toolbox briefing
The team is briefed on site, exclusion zones are set, and standby diver and emergency arrangements are confirmed before entry.

04Certification
Certified personnel and audited operations
We are certified to carry out works for the maritime and industrial sectors. Certificates, insurance confirmations and safety documentation are provided on request during prequalification and tendering.

Classification societies
05Classification societies
Working alongside class surveyors
Underwater inspection is often carried out in the presence of, or for submission to, a classification society surveyor. In those cases the inspection scope, sectioning and documentation format are agreed with the attending surveyor in advance so the record can be accepted as part of the survey.
We work regularly with vessels and structures classed by the major societies and can adapt the reporting format to their requirements.

06FAQ
Safety questions
- Can divers work while a vessel is alongside and operating?
- Only with confirmed isolation of propulsion, thrusters, pumps and intakes, agreed in writing with the vessel or terminal, plus a marked exclusion zone and communications with traffic.
- Who can stop the work?
- The diving supervisor has authority to stop at any point. Abort criteria are set in the method statement before the dive begins.
- Is inspection possible in zero visibility?
- Tactile inspection and instrument-based measurement remain possible, but the report will state the visibility limitation and what could not be visually confirmed.
- How are records kept?
- Dive records, measurements and media are retained so later surveys can be compared with the same sectioning and method.
